This specimen represents a classic epimorph, where a former calcite stalactite has been completely overgrown by a druzy layer of quartz crystals. Over time, the Calcite dissolved away, leaving a hollow cast that preserves the original stalactitic form in fine detail. A natural tunnel-like opening extends through the piece, offering a clear view into the interior cavity. Such epimorphic replacements are highly sought after, both for their mineralogical significance and their striking structural preservation.
